Principal Electrical Engineer - Control & Instrumentation (C&I)

?? Hybrid working: 3-4 days onsite, with travel to Warton & Rochester as required
Are you ready to take on a high-impact role driving the design and integration of control systems on one of the UK's most advanced defence programmes? We're looking for experienced Principal Electrical Engineers (C&I) to lead the delivery and testing of complex, safety-critical systems within the Submarines business unit.
?? What You'll Be Doing:
Delivering, integrating, and testing complex control systems with multi-disciplinary sub-systems (mechanical, electronic, software)
Developing and managing requirements for C&I systems aligned with rigorous engineering lifecycle standards
Supporting test systems, simulations and verification strategies through the IV&V process
Leading equipment specifications, part and BOM creation, and managing supplier interfaces
Producing and reviewing technical documentation to support the full lifecycle-from concept to qualification
Mentoring junior engineers and potentially line managing within a collaborative engineering environment
?? What You'll Bring:
Strong knowledge of C&I systems and a solid background in systems integration
Experience applying systems engineering lifecycle methodologies in complex programmes
Confidence working across multiple sites and engaging stakeholders across engineering disciplines
Degree qualified in Engineering, Physics, or a related STEM subject
Chartered Engineer status or working towards it
?? Desirable Experience:
Awareness of relevant defence and industry standards (IEC 61508 / 61511, ARP 4754, DO-178C / DO-254)
Understanding of safety-critical environments and submarine or naval engineering
