Job Description
AECOM Tishman has an exciting opportunity to join our team of professionals in Piscataway, NJ as a Chief Estimator.
• Works toward alignment of customer and company objectives.
• Assists management in development of strategies and plans.
• Understands estimating terminology and measures and recognizes processes/project actions that may impact the project.
• Assists in the analysis and utilization of estimates to predict key project issues.
• Assists in the evaluation of business opportunities and potential profitability.
• Assists the Project Manager in presenting, trouble-shooting and improving estimates.
• Understands construction means, methods, and sequences.
• Familiar with financial analysis (NPV, ROIC, ROCE).
• Complies with established company policies and procedures and utilizes established systems and tools.
• Exhibits confidence and positive attitude about the project and the Company.
• Assumes training and mentoring roles as requested.
• Identifies and develops recommendations for improving technical expertise.
• Develops training and development programs within an area of technical expertise.
• Conducts training sessions as appropriate.
• Develops a basic understanding of each of company’s organizational units.
• Builds collaborative relationships with other organizations.
• Exhibits confidence and positive attitude about the project and the Company.
• Executes efficient meetings.
• Leads in tracking action items.
• Maintains technical performance excellence.
• Continually strives for the development of new tools and techniques for the purpose of enhancing estimating approaches.
• Encourages diversity through new processes and tools.
• Responsible for the technical aspects of planning and organizing the work of subordinates carried out under the direction of a manager.
• Coordinates estimating activities for proposals.
• Assists in the development and implementation of estimating standards and procedures.
• Reviews final estimate packages for accuracy and completeness.
• Prepares or assists in the preparation of ROIC and IRR forecasts.
• Assists in preparing budgets and performance plans.
• Oversees the preparation of crew build-ups and production rate determinations.
• Determines construction equipment selection.
• Develops Work Breakdown Structures.
• Manages the preparation of an estimate.
• Leads Project Team estimate reviews.
• Evaluates suitability of scope and execution plan for basis of estimate.
• Reviews Estimate Plans (approach, techniques, level of effort, cost, schedule), Basis of Estimates and qualifications.
• Reviews bid tabulations responding to the customer/Request for Proposal requirements.
• Collects, analyzes and archives project data. Develops historical documentation.
• Reconciles current project estimate comparisons with previous performance and market benchmark data.
• Negotiates internal issues, priorities, and deadlines.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- BS/BA Finance, Engineering/Construction Management or similar curriculum and 10 years of construction estimating experience or demonstrated equivalent of education and experience.
Preferred Requirements:
- 10-15 years of construction estimating experience.
- Experience in estimating with Excel and On-Screen Takeoff.
- Experience estimating projects which engage union/represented labor.
- Experience in the following verticals:
- High Rise
- Residential
- Data Center
- Hospital/Life Sciences
- Purchasing/procurement experience.
- Client facing experience.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
- Experience in mentoring junior level staff.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)..
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or Certified Cost Professional (CCP).
- Knowledge of LEED principles and sustainable construction practices.
- Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
