We have a current opportunity for a JDR Management Systems & Processes Project Manager on a contract basis. The position will be based in Abingdon. For further information about this position please apply.
The Project Manager will be responsible for the delivery of projects related to new management systems and processes and continuous improvement activities in support of the JET Decommissioning & Repurposing programme. Activities will include:
- Defining scope.
- Establishing and meeting milestones.
- Defining resource requirements including staffing numbers/skills, purchase estimates and facility requirements.
- Identifying risks and opportunities.
- Developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
- Proactive stakeholder management
- Progress reporting.
- Driving execution to plan.
- Cost control.
- Ensuring the outcomes and benefits are fit for purpose.
- Managing arising issues on the project, escalating for resolution when necessary.
- Maintaining the quality documentation and the audit trail for the project.
- Ensuring successful project handover to the end user, including relevant documentation.
- Interfacing with internal and external customers.
- Engineering degree or equivalent
- Professional project management qualification preferred
- Track record of delivering complex technical projects to budget, time and cost
- Passion for ensuring good project management practices and culture
- A pro-active approach to safety, with good appreciation of UK compliance requirements in design
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to make sound economic decisions that maximise project value
- Good background knowledge and understanding of fusion science, technology and engineering
- Excellent influencing and collaboration skills
- Familiarity with modern standards in the areas of Safety, Health and Environment, and Quality Assurance
- Significant experience in project management role in a technical environment. Experience in nuclear or high technology sector an advantage
- Track record of delivery to time and budget of technical work packages
- Leading project teams and influencing non-direct reports
- Good Stakeholder management
- Good communication and technical writing skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
