What you will be doing as a Product Development Manager?
- Shape and lead the full product development lifecycle—from early-stage ideation and concept development through to launch and commercial success.
- Identify long-term innovation opportunities and potential risks through strategic market analysis and industry forecasting.
- Conduct in-depth market, consumer, and competitor research to uncover emerging trends, customer needs, and whitespace opportunities.
- Translate insights into commercially viable product ideas, concepts, and prototypes that align with business goals.
- Manage and prioritise a dynamic innovation pipeline, presenting concepts and progress to senior stakeholders with clarity and impact.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, marketing, commercial, and supply chain teams to bring products to market efficiently and effectively.
- Refresh and enhance existing product lines to align with evolving consumer demands, sustainability targets, and performance benchmarks.
- Monitor product performance post-launch, capturing feedback from key stakeholders—including contractors and architects—to inform continuous improvement.
- Actively promote a culture of innovation across the organisation, fostering collaboration, creativity, and a customer-first mindset.
- Sometimes may need to go to industry events and trade shows to keep up with trends in the market.
Skills needed to be a Product Development Manager?
- Extensive experience in product innovation, development, or brand management—preferably within the construction or building materials industry.
- Deep understanding of end-to-end product lifecycle management and the execution of effective go-to-market strategies.
- Strong analytical mindset with a proven ability to extract actionable insights from market trends, consumer behaviour, and competitor analysis.
- Innovative thinker with a keen eye for identifying opportunities and turning research into compelling product concepts.
- Highly organised with strong project management capabilities, ensuring timely delivery across complex, cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build influence and align stakeholders at all levels.
- Self-driven and solutions-oriented, with a passion for continuous improvement and a proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation.
