Your Role
We’re looking for a People & Culture Specialist to help deliver brilliant employee experiences and keep our People operations running smoothly. From onboarding and systems admin to engagement surveys and performance reviews, you’ll balance day-to-day People tasks with longer-term projects that shape how we work.
You'll be part of the People function within our Growth Team, reporting to the Senior People Partner and supporting all areas of the business—from GrowUp Labs and Strategy to Impact and Commercial.
Location: You’ll be based at our London office in between Euston and Kings Cross with the option to work from home 2 days per week. Travel for team meetings is required, as well as occasional travel to our Farm in Kent and our Leaf Lab in Cambridge.
You’ll work closely with the Senior People Partner and collaborate across teams to embed strong People practices and deliver meaningful People projects. As part of this role, you’ll be expected to stand tall—delivering results with integrity and accountability.
Who you’ll be working with
As a vital member of the Growth Team, you’ll collaborate cross-functionally to support all areas of the business—including Impact, People, Commercial, Marketing, Product, Planning, Category, Strategy, GrowUp Labs, and Finance. You’ll play a key role in ensuring our People practices enable every team to thrive.

What you’ll be doing
This is a hands-on role. You’ll spend time doing the essential admin and coordination work that keeps things moving—while also helping improve how we support, develop, and retain our people.
People Operations & Delivery (40%)
- Run onboarding and offboarding, ensuring everything is smooth, timely and well-documented
- Design, maintain and update our employee policies and handbook, keeping them clear, compliant, and people-first
- Respond to People queries with clarity, empathy, and efficiency
- Support key moments in the employee journey—like probation, parental leave, and contract changes—with efficiency and care
People Projects & Programmes (30%)
- Help coordinate engagement surveys, action plans, and performance review cycles
- Support delivery of initiatives across DEIB, recognition, and values
- Assist with salary benchmarking, career pathways, and benefit reviews
Cross-functional Collaboration (20%)
- Work closely with Finance on monthly payroll and benefits processes
- Partner with other teams to make People info easy to find, understand, and action
- Help embed consistent, inclusive People practices across all functions
People Data & Systems (10%)
- Keep our HRIS (HiBob) and other People tools (like Notion and LMS) tidy and up to date
- Spot ways to make processes faster or easier through automation or smart use of AI
- Support reporting and data pulls to inform decisions

This role is a blend of People operations, project coordination, and cross-functional support. You’ll help keep our People processes running smoothly, contribute to meaningful initiatives, and ensure our culture and values are embedded in the everyday. Must have skills:
- Organised & proactive – You don’t mind admin, love a good plan, and keep things moving without needing to be asked.
- People operations expertise – You have a strong understanding of the employee lifecycle, policies, payroll, and performance processes.
- Detail-focused & creative – Whether writing policies or preparing content for engagement or comms, you care about getting the details right and presenting things clearly.
- People person – You build strong relationships across all levels and communicate effectively and empathetically.
- Tech & systems confident – You’re comfortable using HR platforms like HiBob, Notion, LMS tools, and the Microsoft suite, and you know how to streamline admin through automation, templates, and smart use of tools like ChatGPT—always ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
- Problem solver – You spot what needs doing, think ahead, and always look for better, simpler ways to work.
Nice to have skills:
- Experience in a fast-paced and multi-site environment – You’re used to collaborating across locations, adapting quickly, and finding structure in change.
- You have a good working knowledge of UK employment law and can spot risks.
- You're CIPD qualified or have equivalent hands-on People experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Change and process improvement – You enjoy rethinking how things work, from updating policies to making onboarding slicker, and have supported or led change initiatives.
What success looks like in this role
- 🌱 3 months in – You’ve built strong relationships across the business, got up to speed with our People processes and tools, and are confidently managing onboarding, offboarding, and day-to-day queries. You’ve refreshed key People pages on Notion and supported the rollout of an engagement survey or team initiative.
- 🌿 6 months in – You’ve taken the lead on coordinating a performance review cycle or engagement action planning. You’ve made improvements to a core process (like onboarding or probation) and helped teams better navigate People resources through clearer comms or updated tools.
- 🌳 12 months in – You’ve played a key role in delivering our annual pay review, bonus cycle, or benefits refresh—coordinating timelines, ensuring accuracy, and supporting communication across the business. You’ve also taken ownership of a recurring People programme (like engagement surveys, DEIB initiatives, or recognition), helping shape the approach and tracking progress. By now, you’re a trusted, go-to partner across teams, known for your reliability, judgment, and care in how you support our people.
