Job Description
We are currently looking for a Technical Superintendent.
As a Technical Superintendent you are responsible for the technical operational deployment, maintenance and docking of ships, operating in Guyana. In close cooperation with the international crew on board you ensure that the vessels are in an excellent technical and maintenance state to ensure the continuity of services to our clients.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and carry out maintenance work on board and ensure compliance.
- Plan, organize and supervise repairs, inspections and dry-dockings.
- 1st point of contact for the international crew in case of technical questions or defects.
- Supervise and provide technical advice and support to the Chief Engineers on board.
- Instruct and monitor the maintenance progress and quality on board via the PM System (MARAD).
- Investigate and analyze technical defects and take preventive and corrective measures in a timely manner.
- Prepare dry-docking / repair specifications and monitor work progress.
- Maintain allocated budget and meet the operational standard.
- Approve purchase orders and monitor / follow up on goods received.
- Liaise with suppliers, and attend to all inspections by Class Society, Flag State, Port State, Underwriters and Oil Majors.
- Conduct inspections and guide surveys on board by external parties.
- Monitor and update ship certificates and technical documents.
- Handle of damage reports and claims.
Qualifications
To be successful in this position you will recognize yourselves in the following:
- 3 - 6 years work experience
- Experience with Niigata or Wartsila engines in excess of 4800 KW
- Mechanical background is compulsory
- Technical experience, sailing experience is a must
- Bachelor degree in maritime or technical
- Fluent command of the English language, spoken and written
- Good Microsoft skills - Excel and Word
- Familiar with Oil Majors vetting’s and inspections requirements
- COC Class 1 holders with sailing experience on similar type vessels
- Our crew members interested in this role: Experience preferably on the M-Class Vessels (Mesite, Magpie, Marabou, Merganser) and SL Griffin.
